== 36ACCMCC December 2012==

The 36th Australasian Conference on Combinatorial Mathematics and Combinatorial
Computing (36ACCMCC) was held at the University of New South Wales on 10 - 14 December 2012.
There were more than 120 participants from more than 20 countries around the world.
Our invited
speakers (Ron Aharoni, Marston Conder, Daniel Horsley, Christine O'Keefe, Chris Rodger,
Frank Ruskey, Carsten Thomassen and Anders Yeo) all gave wonderful talks; the
parallel sessions contained lots of great contributed talks too.

Early in the week, the Sydney weather did not match up to expectations created by the blue-sky image of Coogee Beach from the 36ACCMCC website. But the rain cleared up in time for the conference excursion on Wednesday afternoon. Excursion attendees had a picnic lunch and a quick bushwalk at Audley in the Royal National Park, then a visit to Symbio Wildlife Park where delegates had the chance to sniff a koala. On the way home we made a quick stop at Bald Hill Lookout to soak up beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. Delegates had another
chance to view the ocean during pre-dinner drinks at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Coogee Beach,
where the conference dinner took place.

The 36ACCMCC group photo, excursion photos, abstracts of talks, participant list and other information are available on the conference
website
http://conferences.science.unsw.edu.au/36accmcc/

Many thanks to all our invited speakers, to everyone who chaired a session and
to everyone who attended 36ACCMCC, for making it such a happy, enjoyable and successful
conference. See you in Perth at 37ACCMCC!

Julian Abel, Thomas Britz, Diana Combe and Catherine Greenhill
Guangjun Xu received his PhD at the University of Melbourne in 2012. His superviser was Sanming Zhou. The thesis title is: Domination numbers, three-arc graph construction and symmetric graphs. A copy is available at
Dan Archdeacon, at the University of Vermont USA, will be on sabbatical leave during the latter part of 2013. He'll be visiting Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. He is particularly interested in topological graph theory.

== The Press ==

Jennie Seberry, at the University of Wollongong, recently had an opinion piece in the Sydney Morning Herald on mathematics education and girls.
='''The Australasian Journal of Combinatorics'''=

The website for the Australasian Journal of Combinatorics is http://ajc.maths.uq.edu.au/.

The Journal is published three times per year: in February, June and October. CMSA Members are entitled to a $10 discount per volume.

There is a search facility for past authors and for keywords in the titles of papers. Instructions to authors are also available at this website.

The contents of all volumes, 1 to 55, are listed at the above web page. We also now have free public access to the full papers in Volumes 1 to 43 inclusive. All but the last four years are available for free.

The CMSA Council recently confirmed that the production of paper copies of the journal will cease from 2014, so Volumes 56 and 57 (June and October 2013) will be the last ''paper'' volumes. From the start of 2014, the journal and all back issues will be available free online to all, with no costs involved for either authors or readers.

Recent blogs by Peter Cameron (Honorary Editor) http://cameroncounts.wordpress.com/tag/diamond/
and by Gordon Royle (Chief Managing/Production Editor) http://symomega.wordpress.com/2012/08/14/australasian-journal-of-combinatorics-goes-diamond/ have reported this change as a move to "diamond open access".
As Peter says, "Send your best papers to diamond journals."

Submissions to the Australas. J. Combin. may be sent to ajc at maths.uq.edu.au.
Only pdf files are required at submission stage. For submissions on paper, please check the journal's website.
